My Signum Manuale. In Irish Scribal and Notary Traditions, a Signum was a way for Scribes and Notaries to both sign and authenticate the documents they created, in everything from Church Documents like proclamations, to Legal documents like Wills and edicts. The Design was unique to each S&N, with elements of the artwork being shared between S&N’s of the same scribal schools, or passed from master to apprentice. My design is a combination of Irish traditional artwork, my SCA name initials in Ogham stemming from the Awen symbol, and the the trunk and roots of a tree, with surrounding flourishes.
